The Greetery – Simple Things and Cotton Comforts

Hey Friends!

It’s been a long time since I’ve made a card just because. I’ve been a little lost the past few weeks – figuring out what to do with more kids at home and trying to do things that make me feel like I’m being purposeful with my time. Most of that time was spent knitting a baby blanket, but the past few days have been spent sewing face masks. I spent a lot of time pondering if they’d be useful – it’s conflicting but ultimately, some protection is better than none. Truth be told, my paper-crafting mojo had left me. I pulled out my stamp bin for all things The Greetery and flipped through it to find some thing inspiring and landed on Simple Things and Cotton Comforts. Even the name of these sets are soothing!

These two stamp sets are simple layering sets that have so much detail and depth. I used Pinkfresh Studio inks for the cotton branches (Misty Coast, Warm Buff, Doe, Gathered Twigs) and then used Catherine Pooler inks for the eucalyptus branches (Sage and Spruce). After stamping, I die-cut the images and set them aside to work on the background.

I stamped a white panel with the Windowpane Plaid background stamp and used the medium Crimped Frame to die-cut it. Then using the largest Crimped Frame, I die-cut another panel using some MFT Grout Gray cardstock. I adhered the plaid panel over the gray panel using foam adhesive for dimension before adding my stamped images over it.

My images are layered from the bottom left hand corner and attached using foam adhesive for additional dimension. To finish, I stamped the sentiment and die-cut a halo over it using the coordinating die from the Cotton Comforts set and embellished with some Sparkling Clear Confetti.

I hope you enjoyed this card! I hope you’re all taking lots of care during this time. Wishing you all good health and lots of wonderful family time!

  1. Such a beautiful card! I think your crafting mojo is back. It’s so awesome that you can see some masks – some protection is better then none. I’m amazed at all you can do. Maybe some day I can be as talented and as awesome as you! 😘

    1. You are already so awesome, Michelle! Don’t let self-doubt tell you otherwise! You can do all the things! I’ve seen people who claim they don’t sew make masks. This quarantine is making us cook more and do more things we didn’t make time for before. Hang in there! XO 😘

  2. Hi Caly! When I hear a talented artist say their mojo has left the building, I don’t feel so alone. I kept pushing myself to create something but I had trouble with focus & concentration. After visiting a few blogs, I’m reassured because it seems to be more common than not. Instead, I’m getting more done around the house and promised myself that the next time I sit down to create, I’m keeping it simple! I just love your work Caly and that includes this beauty! Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your talents! Happy Easter to you & your family! 😊💖
