There’s a new MFT Release coming up and today, we’re kicking off the countdown! Calling all pet-lovers! I’ve created a set of simple cards for dog and cat lovers. I’ll be honest – cats scare me and I don’t usually make cards with kitties but the new Cat-astrophe set is adorable! The Woof Pack set is just as cute!
We’ve got a new stencil called the Rectangle Trio so I used it to create a simple plaid background for both card.
My images are colored with Copic markers.
Woof Pack: E40, E42, E35, E37, R22, R27, R29, G12, G14, R20
Catastrophe: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, W2, W5, E70, E71, E74, E77, R30, R22, BG11, BG13, BG18
The stencil has three rectangles, so I extended my ink-blending for this card to elongate the pattern. I love that kitty sitting on the roomba! Of course, I had to also throw in the kitty with the ball of yarn for a crafty theme!
This little guy is just too cute, so I had to color him. I used the Polaroid Shaker Frame die to frame him in over my soft background.

Hi Caly, Just a short note to thank you for recommending the Hammermill card stock as noted in your Favorite Craft Supplies. The Hammermill 100# cardstock is actually Brightness 100 gsm 271. I agree with you that it is smoother than the Neenah classic crest solar white 110# brightness 97 gsm 298. The Hammermill is less than half of the price of the Neenah, smoother, & brighter. Such a deal! I am a newbie and find it hard to do the slider portion of a slider card with the Neenah 110#. The little 1/4 inch at the bottom of the slider doesn’t crease well. I think this 100# cardstock will work. Have you ever used it as a card base? I know some crafters use 80# for a card base. I find 80# to be too thin for a card base. Perhaps the 100# will be the happy in between weight.

You’re so welcome, Sue! Personally, I prefer 110lb cardstock for the cardbase. I don’t use Neenah for the same reason-it’s quite expensive so I buy Michael’s 110lb white cardstock that I use for card bases only. Joann has a 110lb cardstock but it’s got a weird blue hue to it and doesn’t match the Hammermil’s whiteness as well. I hope you find this helpful!
