It’s been a couple of months since I played with colored pencils. I think the last time I used it to color over kraft cardstock is September – I remember specifically using it on a Stamptember set. Today, I pondered over what to use and decided to color the Waffle Flower Crocus set with colored pencils.

I stamped on kraft cardstock using a light ink and started coloring each petal at a time using different colored pencil shades and blended with white.

Flowers:  Rose Carmine, Middle Cadmium Red, Light Chrome Yellow, Dark Chrome Yellow
Leaves:  Light Green, Permanent Green, Pine Green
Dirt:  Burnt Umber, Black
Planter:  Cold Grey, Cold Grey, black
Blending:  White

I lay down the darkest color first (like I do with Copics), then the light and blend with a white pencil. It is time consuming, but I tried to make it go a bit faster with lots of harsh lines and strokes to give the flowers more texture. When I was done, I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

To make the edge more interesting, I used my Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer and then distressed the edges more with the end of blade, swiping it back and forth. I finished by adhering my card panel over a card base using a layer of craftfoam.
