Lawn Fawn has been showing inspiration all week of their new release and it’s here!!! I’m thrilled to be able to share a project with you using the Happy Hibiscus Dies. Did you know that Lawn Fawn has another flower die? I created a project with the Pretty Poppies Dies a while back. That post can be seen HERE. The Happy Hibiscus dies are so much fun for a tropical-themed card.

I used all Lawn Fawn cardstocks and inks today. Before die-cuting the white Hibiscus flowers, I ink-blended the paper softly with Ballet Slippers ink – because there’s always a hint of soft color on white hibiscus. They have strong vibrant centers so I die-cut the floral centers with Raspberry cardstock. I added some veins to the white petals with a polychromos colored pencil too (226 Alizarin Crimson).

Before attaching the floral pieces together, I shaped them using tools from the Tim Holtz Shaping Kit. The rounded ends of the tools help me apply pressure to shape the petals to give them form. I then glued the Raspberry floral centers and attached the stamen – which is die-cut from Sticky Note cardstock that I ink-blended with Raspberry ink.

My foliage is die-cut from Cilantro and Noble Fir cardstock – both of which I ink-blended with Noble Fir ink to give them dimension. The foliage is die-cut from the Happy Hibiscus Dies as well as the Tropical Leaves Dies – also new in this release! On a white panel, I again ink-blended very softly with Ballet Slippers ink, then die-cut a stitched border using the largest Outside In Stitched Rectangles Die. To finish, I embossed a quick sentiment from the Happy Hugs stamp set.
