I’m excited to share today’s card with you because I waited a long time for the Butterflies products. Pinkfresh Studio is so clever with their stamp, die, and stencil combinations (and foil plates!). The foil plates are so pretty, but I honestly can’t justify the cost or the fuss. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. I can gold-emboss if I want a similar look.

For today’s card, I embossed my Butterfly stamp with clear embossing powder using a black pigment ink before I started ink-blending. This will protect my butterfly from smearing if I did not emboss and just used a black ink. I used the Butterfly Stencil Set to ink-blend my colors – there are a total of 5 stencils.

Ink colors used: Doe, Sparkling Rose, Raspberry Bliss, Ocean Breeze, Mermaid Cove, Candy Violet,  Regal Bliss

After die-cutting using the Butterfly DIe, I set it aside to die-cut parts for my background. I used a piece of patterned paper from the Pinkfresh Studio Just a Little Lovely paper pad – it’s not longer available, unfortunately, but I think you can create a beautiful background similar to this using a watercolor wash, or even some light ink-blending. Next, I die-cut a full background using the Ornate Floral Die, and some sprigs using the Curvy Leaves Dies in white to give my background texture.

I glued the Ornate Floral panel over the background panel first, then adhered my butterfly using foam tape under its body only to allow the wings to flair up. Then i trimmed and tucked the Curvy Leaves under the butterfly. I embossed the sentiment and fussy-cut around it for a more delicate sentiment strip and finished by adding some sparkles over my butterfly using a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.
