Last night, the September 2021 Card Kit was released! I shared two cards using the Sunshine Garden set along with the P13 The Four Seasons – Summer patterned paper. Today, I’m sharing a watercolored project using the Sunflower Garden set. That’s right! There are two brand new stamp sets in this kit to help celebrate the month of STAMPtember! They are both 6″ x 8″ sets and I just had to stamp the full image of this set to watercolor.

II had to use a Memory MISTI to stamp this image on a larger piece of watercolor paper in order to frame it. I stamped the image using a light ink on a piece of 8.5″ x 8.5″ watercolor paper and began by working on the sunflower petals. I didn’t take process photos, but I did take a photo when I finished painting without adding details.

Sunflower Petals:  New Gamboge, Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet
Sunflower Centers:  New Gamboge, Raw Umber
Foliage:  Hooker’s Green, Sap Green, Deep Sap Green

When I was done watercoloring, I aded white gel highlights to some of the petals and sunflower centers. I also used a black monoline drawing pen to add more detail to the centers of the flowers too.

It adds depth and contrast to the flowers to add the monoline details as it intensifies the center of the flowers. To finish my project, I place my painted image in a frame. I’m loving these larger sets bc now I have two framed images!

When you spend 6+ hours painting, there’s no way to cut it up to put on a card – so framed, it shall be! I hope you enjoyed these projects! The September 2021 Card Kit is just absolutely fabulous!
