Hello, Friends!
I’m sharing a card made using an older set today, but it’s new to me and I’ve admired it a while and am so happy it’s now a part of my inventory (I know that sounds nerdy, but I do, in fact, inventory everything I have). The Sketch Lotus Flowers set is beautiful and I honestly did as I usually do and looked to google for inspiration. Let me show you the photo that inspired today’s card:

I love the dark background! I don’t make a lot of dark cards, but I really tried hard to replicate a similar design. I started by stamping and coloring my image using the Sketch Lotus Flowers with Copic markers.
Flowers: RV10, R81, R85
Foliage: G00, G03, G09
Lotus Pod: YG95, YG97

When I was done coloring with the Copic markers, I felt it needed more definition, so I used Polychromos colored pencils to go over it for more vibrancy.
Fuchsia 123
Pink Carmine 127,
Permanent Green Olive 167,
Chrome Oxide Green 278

After die-cutting, I colored the white space with a G29 Copic marker to help the image blend in with the dark background I was going to create. For my background, I stamped the image twice at a diagonal on a white cardstock and began ink-blending using Distress Oxide Ink in Worn Lipstick, Pine Needles and Prize Ribbon. I used Simon Says Stamp’s new blending brushes and added color in layers. When I was happy with the saturation, I sprayed it with some water to give it some texture. Then I die-cut a stitched frame around it.

You know how Distress Oxides can be chalky? To make the colors more vibrant, I used a blending tool and domed blending pad to add Micro Glaze over the ink-blending. This makes it waterproof too! Then I finished by embossing my sentiment, fussy cutting around it, and attaching it to my background with foam tape.
I hope you like it! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stunning card! Would love to know what you use to inventory your stamps; doesn’t sound the least bit nerdy! My life would be so much better if I had an inventory.
