I was so happy to see the Orchids set available at Simon Says Stamp – it’s a collaborative set between Colorado Craft Company and Crafy Meraki. I made some time to watercolor it (after grocery shopping and adulting, of course). Orchids are my absolute favorite. Know why? It’s really hard to kill them and last YEARS! I’ve had the same orchids lining my dinning room window sills for years!
I stamped the Orchids Image today with new-to-me Honey Bee Stamps No Line Coloring Ink. This is my new favorite no-line ink! Usually, I have to stamp several times for a clear impression. This one, in 3 (would’ve been 2 if I had more faith in it). I am super impressed and LOVE it!
I watered colored the image using Daniel Smith watercolors. I started with the orchid petals, then the centers and finally, the stem and orchid buds.
Paint colors used: Quinacridone Lilac, Quinacridone Fuchsia, Quinacridone Gold, Deep Sap Green
The image is large so today’s card is a 5″ x 7″ card. After watercoloring, I splattered the image with gold and white paint. I trim my panel by 1/4″ all the way around. To give it a faux frame, I tapped my Versamark ink all around the edge of the paper and embossed it with gold embossing powder.
I finished by stamping sentiment over black cardstock and embossing it with the same gold embossing powder. Then, I embellished my card with some iridescent sequins.

Gorgeous card. I love the design and colors. You are very talented. I enjoy Orchids as well but I believe myself to be their worse enemy. I seem to kill them every-time I get one. I can grow anything else, just not Orchids.

Oh, Caly! Just stunning, my friend. Absolutely gorgeous. I always love your watercoloring. I have two orchids and you’re right, they’re so easy. I have a white one and a purplish-fuscia one. I’m a purple person, but your hot pink orchid is deserving of a big DITTO. 💜💜💜
