I made some time to play with a Birch Press Design layer set today. I admire the intricate dies from Birch Press so much and often feel too intimidated to play. Do you ever get that way? I guess I feel the same before tackling a project I know will take a lot of thought or time coloring. I have issues, friends. I over-think everything…and far too long before starting a project. My friend Tracey McNeely is a Birch Press Design Team Member and used the Tranquility Layer Set several months ago and I am excited to share this one with you today.

To create my colorful layers, I cut 3 pieces of cardstock to 4.25″ x 4.25″ and ink-blended them with Pawsitively Saturated Inks using Blush, Cantaloupe, Limelicious, Surf, Cadette, and Sweets (linked below). I ink-blended each of the panels with the same pattern, each panel in varying intensity. I wanted the bottom most layer to be the darkest, so I ink-blended that panel for the most saturation and went lighter with each panel.

Once all three panels were ready, I used the Tranquility Layer Set to die-cut the layers and adhered them together. For the background, I die-cut the most intricate layer 3 times and used all the parts to fill a white panel for the background – making sure it’s all symmetrical, of course. I did mention that I over-think/over-plan right? Execution is important!

I adhered my rainbow mandala over the background panel using foam adhesive, then attached some pearls in various areas for interest. To finish, I attached a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp Reverse The Best Friends Sentiment Strips set.
