Today’s card features another illustration by my friend, Emily Midgett.  Her floral illustrations are elegant and dainty and I love coloring them.  I used the Orchid Rose Bouquet to do some quick watercoloring.

I used a black pigment ink to stamp my image over watercolor cardstock, but didn’t emboss this time.  Because I wanted a loose look, I wasn’t worried about the colors bleeding into other areas.  I did heat-set before starting to make sure the black ink stayed put.  I started with a full panel water wash and added pigment to all the florals and foliage.

Then for more detailed coloring, I used the same pigments to add color to each of the flowers and leaves (Quinacridone Rose, Rose of Ultramarine, Phthalo Blue RS, Hooker’s Green).  I added more concentration of paint to the nooks and crannies to apply some shading.  When done, I dabbed some embossing ink all around the edges of the panel and added gold embossing powder to give it a border before attaching it to a card base.

I finished today’s card by attaching an embossed sentiment from the Orchid Rose Bouquet set.  I embossed it in white over black cardstock and fussy cut around the letters to frame the sentiment.  I hope you like it!  The blue is not a typical color I would choose but I love it when others use blue and decided to use it today too.
