My cards today are a part of an Instagram Hop with Pretty Pink Posh. I used two of the new layered stencil sets to create colorful cards. There are three stencils to each set and they layer perfectly for cute little images – perfect for birthdays! My cards use the Layered Candles, Layered Cupcakes, and Birthday Scripts set from the release.

My first card uses the Layered Candles set. As you can see, there are 4 rows to candle set for my portrait-oriented card. I ink-blended each row with two colors and blended them to meet at the center. Then I used a coordinating darker color to ink-blended on the patterns for the candles.

The following Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks were used: Cheeky, Blush, Melon, Cantaloupe, Lemonade, Sunbeam, Sprout, Fairway, Seafoam, Surf, Marine, Cadette, Bubblegum, Sweets.

Next, I ink-blended the candle flames using a combination of Lemonade and Sunbeam. For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the Birthday Scripts set and embossed them over black cardstock. I embellished this card with a few Ivory Pearls. I matted my panel over a piece of dark gray cardstock before attaching it to a card base.

For my second card, I used the Layered Cupcakes stencil set. Instead of ink-blending a full panel, I isolated 9 of the cupcakes and centered them on a panel. I ink-blended the cupcake bases first using Latte ink. Then I used similar colors from above to ink-blend the whipped frosting.

Again, I used 2 colors per row and blended them towards the center. To give the cupcakes more interest, instead of ink-blending on the confetti and cupcake base pattern, I used Rainbow Glitz Glitter from Simon Says Stamp to add on only the cupcake toppings. I decided I wanted the bases to be simple.

I worked quickly with the Rainbow Glitz Glitter so that I could work through all the colors one time without having to clean my stencil after each color. It worked out great! I finished this card using the Birthday Scripts set as well, this time, embossing over vellum with gold embossing powder. I attached my trimmed panel to a cream colored panel and attached it to a card base.
