It’s been a while since I’ve watercolored. I flipped through my bins and picked up the first floral background that I found to paint. The Poppies Background stamp is so pretty and I have enjoyed coloring it in the past using Copic Markers and have seen beautiful projects made using watercolors.

It saves me a lot of time not doing no-line watercoloring. Which is ok in this case, since I love the details of the poppy petals. I stamped the Poppies Background with Versafine Claire Nocturne ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder to help me paint more loosely while still keeping the color in their spaces.

I didn’t want to cut off too much of what I painted, so today’s card is a 5″ x 7″ card. After splattering it with some white and black ink, I matted it over some Fog cardstock to give it a bit of color to border the watercolored panel with foam adhesive to give it dimension.

For the sentiment, I embossed a sentiment from the Spring Into My Step set using the same ink and embossing powder I used for the Poppies Background stamp. I used vellum for a subtle background for the sentiment and die-cut the sentiment using the coordinating die.
