I’m so excited to be able to share a few projects from today’s MFT release!  The new release is wonderful and I hope you’ve seen some wonderful creations as MFT and their awesome design team has been counting to down to today’s release.

My first card today uses the Winged Wonders set.  This is a 4” x 6” stamp set with 6 different butterflies and I’ve used them all for my card.  I wanted to do a rainbow mixed media design (as mixed media as I can get without getting too messy, ha!). I started off with watercolor washes over watercolor paper using distress inks.

To create my watercolor background, I squished some ink onto a glass mat, then added some water and applied it to my card.  I didn’t try to make the application perfection because I wanted it to be organic-like brush strokes.  While doing this, I also applied the same ink to a butterfly with more concentrated color.  I embossed the butterflies before doing this, but that’s not necessary if you use a watercolor-friendly black ink.  All the Distress Ink colors I used will be linked below.

When the panel was dry, I used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink to stamp the butterflies onto the panel.  It’s not perfect, but that’s intentional.  After stamping, I sprayed the panel to give it drop lets and to lighten up the stamping.  I also splattered it with white paint for additional texture. I adhered my butterflies, sentiment and finished the card with some iridescent bubbles.

My second card uses the Fairy Special set.  I wanted this card to have a magical feel so I began by ink-blending my background with Distress Oxide Inks.  On a white panel, I ink-blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberries, Squeezed Lemonade, and Spiced Marmalade.  I splattered again with water and white paint to give it texture.

I stamped and colored my images from the set with Copic markers, then die-cut them to adhere them to the card.  I started first with the sentiment once I roughly laid out the stamped images.  I adhered my tree and grass down directly, then filled the card canvas with the rest of the images.

I hope you enjoyed both these cards.  I love using Distress Inks to create fun watercolor backgrounds, while Distress Oxides are my go-to for ink-blended panels!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
