One of my favorite things in the winter is snowflakes – I’m sure I have more than I will never need, but if there is a snowflake die – I have to have it! Honey Bee has released the Layering Snowflakes set and it’s beautiful! I had to use it to make my card today. I die cut many of them using Pink, Purple and white glitter cardstock, as well as vellum for layering.

After die-cutting, I layered some and left the smaller ones and then set them aside to work on my background. On Bristol Vellum Cardstock, I did a light watercolor wash using Tombow Markers. That’s right! you can use Tombow Markers just like you do with Zig Waterbrush Markers (or the Arteza Markers). I chose 3 shades of purples and pink (606, 676, and 703) and drew the ink onto my glass media mat, and picked up the pigment with a damp brush and painted it on my cardstock, drying between each layer of color.

To add a sentiment to my card, I die-cut the Winter word in the same pink glitter cardstock and the halo with white glitter cardstock and adhered them together. This large sentiment is then accompanied by the Winter sentiments stamped and embossed in white over black cardstock. I adhered the Winter word down first, then the layered snowflakes, then added the black sentiment pieces last. Finally, to give the card a bit more bling, I finished it with some purple and pink adhesive gems from the Perfect Petals collection.
