Welcome to Rubeena’s Crafting Anniversary 2-Day Blog Hop! This hop is epic with more than 60 guests and over $600 in sponsored prizes! Not only are we celebrating four years since Rubeena first discovered cardmaking but also crafting in general. This industry is made up of wonderful individuals who are creative, inspirational, kind, and incredibly supportive! Hop along so you can learn about why we create and how much joy it brings us! For details on day one of the hop, you can visit this post.

I started crafting 4 years ago also and it is amazing to see the growth and success of fellow peers! 4 years ago, I moved to a small town in Ohio outside of Columbus. Just before I moved, I went to a Stampin’ Up! stamp night with my next door neighbor, Karen. I was completely enamored by it and decided that once I got to Ohio, I would start card-making. I was in a new place with my family and for the first time in my life, I made space and time in my day for myself. I would say I’m self-taught – but not without inspiration from obvious crafters like Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner, and other well-loved card-makers. Through YouTube, I found a world outside of Stampin’ Up! and as my family grew and life happened, card-making was a solace and source of personal joy. My growth has been small and steady, but I couldn’t be more appreciative of the lessons I’ve learned and the the relationships that have been built in this wonderful community.
Congratulations to Rubeena on all her success! For this Anniversary Blog Hop, I created 2 cards using the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers stamp set.

Believe it or not – the coloring is the same on both cards and using only 4 Tombow Dual Brush Pens/Markers! It just shows that color choices of embossing powders can dramatically change the look of your card.

Let’s start with the first card. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and used clear embossing powder. The Tombow colors used are: 296 Green, 346 Green, 025 Yellow, 743 Pink. I added color to the inner parts of the petals and in areas where I think there would be shadows. This stamp has detailed lines and give away where the shadows are – so it makes it easy to color!

When I was done coloring the image, I fussy cut it because I didn’t want to cut it down to fit a standard A2 card. Rubeena does a lot of cards where her images hang off the card – so as I was making these cards, I felt it was ironic that I chose this stamp set to work on for Ruby’s blog hop! 😉

For my second card, I embossed the image using Ranger Blush Pearl embossing powder. It’s a beautiful pink color and I saw Emily Midgett use it on one of her cards and it inspired me to use it on this card. I changed the orientation of the stamp for this card because I needed a wider space for the sentiments.

Again, the image is colored the same way as in my first card. The contrast between the two is so different! In case you missed it above, the Tombow colors used are: 296 Green, 346 Green, 025 Yellow, 743 Pink.

Both sentiments are embossed in white over black paper. The card layer is stamped with the same image using a coordinating ink for a tone-on-tone look to give the cards some added interest. I hope you enjoyed them! Be sure to continue to hop along with us to celebrate Ruby’s success and the success of crafters in general! Next on the list is Stephanie Klauck. She’s an amazing crafter and I love her to pieces!

Oh my gosh! The difference in appearance in these two cards is so amazing. What a contrast! And after looking closely…yes…the coloring is the same. Sure teaches me something about my choice of embossing for the stamped image! Thanks so much. Love, love your work.
