Hello and welcome back for another card featuring a card using Hello Bluebird’s Frosty Friends set. I made a card using Frosty Friends about a month ago. For a refresher, you can see that post HERE. We don’t have a release for September – so we’re focusing on holiday sets. This one is a personal favorite! Since I used the snowmen from the set for the last card, I decided to use the other images for this card.
I started by stamping and coloring the images with Copic markers. I knew I wanted a treed scenery, so I stamped extra trees for this card. After coloring, I die cut all the images using the coordinating dies. Then I highlighted each image with a white gel pen.
Copic colors used: R29, R24 (Reds); B000, B00, B24 (Blues); V000, V01, V12 (Purple); R000, R20 (Pinks); C00, C2, C4, C6 (Grays); E30, E55, E57 (Browns); Y18 (Orange); YG13, YG17, YG06, G05 (Green), G000, BG34 (Teal).
To create the scene, I used the Pond Builder die. I applied Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to a white card panel, then die cut the lower half for the pond area on the card. I splattered some water on this section to give the water some texture. With another white panel, I applied Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink to the top half of the card just past where the pond panel meets. I adhered the panels together and then ran it through my die-cutting machine to add a double stitched border.
Finally, I laid out my images on the background I created and began adhering the pieces once I was satisfied with where they were. I adhered some directly to the background panel and I added foam tape to the penguins and reindeer to make them pop a bit. This stamp set comes with speech bubbles, but I decided I wanted a sentiment so I used one from the Joyful Mouse stamp set.
The deer looks kind of lonely doesn’t he? He’s got gifts for his friends and it looks like he’s waiting for them to come out of the water to play with him…that or he wishes he could swim in ice-cold water too…haha.
