I’m so happy to be joining Hero Arts again this month featuring the new My Monthly Hero Kit for October!  I hope you’re prepared for lots of holiday inspiration.  I know it seems a little early for some – but October is when I start thinking about holiday cards each year as I try to send out all my cards the week before Thanksgiving.  I know – it’s early but I love hearing that my card is the first that people receive :).

This Christmas tree is the focus of this month’s My Monthly Hero Kit, at least it is to me!  There are lots of of fun companion stamps to create a variety of sceneries, but I kept it simple (well….”simple”) because I love the coordinating tree die!  The branches are cut for some additional dimension!

I stamped and colored the tree and ornaments using Copic markers, then die cut the tree outline and a second time for the detailed branches.  I sent everything aside and worked on my background – which is ink blended with Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass, then spritzed lightly with some water.  Using some Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive, I glued the edges and center of the tree down on the prepared background.

I then glued down the ornaments in various places on the tree, making sure to tuck them under branches so you can see how much dimension you can add to these cut branches.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white embossing powder directly over the ink-blended background.  The MMH kit came with some iridescent stars, so I used them and added some White Blizzard Nuvo drops to give the card some extra shine.
