Hi Friends!
Welcome to the Pinkfresh Studio Holiday Cards Blog Hop! We’re celebrating with a 2-day blog hop and you’re here for the first day. If you’re starting from the Pinkfresh Studio blog, you should’ve hopped here from Amanda’s blog and I’ so glad you’re here! Our goal is to get you into the holiday spirit 😊.
I’m using the Magical Christmas set today to share a “one layer” card with simple watercoloring and lots of embossed sparkles.
I started by stamping the unicorn using Versafine pigment ink in Vintage Sepia. The unicorn’s head is a second stamp, so I made sure to line it up as well as I could in my MISTI. After letting the ink dry, I began coloring the unicorn with a very light gray – it’s so hard to see in the photo, sorry! Then I colored the unicorn mane in different colors and went around the entire image with a bright light blue and blended the color out with a damp brush – this really helps the image pop.
I use Arteza Real Brush Markers for this card and I think that one of the main differences between it and the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers is in how it saturates the paper. Arteza wants to soak into the paper right away and doesn’t blend as easily – so you have to work a bit faster. That being said, the colors are beautiful and works really well for watercoloring.
After the panel dried, I added the unicorn horn and sentiment, embossing them using WOW Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder. Then I went around the white areas of the unicorn and added stars using a cluster stamp that comes with this stamp set. To accent the card, I used a wonky stitch die to frame it and mounted it on a white card base. I haven’t done a one-layer card in a while. I tend to like lots of elements and maybe I made up for it this time with lots of embossing :).

Very Pretty, even with not being able to see all the colour you added in the photo. I just love the gold embossing power and the stars.
