Concord & 9th – Fresh Cut Florals

Hi, Friends!

I can’t believe it’s August! It’s been quiet on my blog for over a week and I wanted to share some changes with you. You’ll notice very soon (starting with this post), that I’ll be sharing more cards using a variety of brands I love. I had not had time in the past to play with all the different brands because I had been so busy creating for teams. I have been given the opportunity to have more creative freedom now and I can not be happier about that! Not going to lie – it took me about a week to create a card because I don’t remember what it feels like to have a CHOICE.

I’m so excited that Concord & 9th had a recent ink and cardstock release! I jumped at the opportunity to create today’s card using those products and was giddy about!

I used the Hexagon Label Dies to die-cut several hexagons in various C&9th cardstock colors (Sea Glass, Aqua Sky, Peacock, Oceanside) to create some shapes for my background.

For my flower from the Fresh Cut Florals Edition 1 Dies, I die-cut the pieces using Grapefruit, Sorbet, Buttercup cardstock – then inked the petals with their coordinating ink to give them some extra dimension. My leaves and berries are die-cut from Parsley, Clover cardstock. On the berries, I wanted some contrast so I used my R59 Copic marker to color them. I really wanted them to be a deep red, but they ended up a little dark, which turned out ok so I left them as they were. To give the berries some shimmer, I added Nuvo Aqua Shimmer over them.

After stacking my hexagons, I stamped my sentiment and then layered my foliage and flower over it. Minimal stamping on this and I love all the dimension! I hope you like it too.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’m going to be just as active here as ever – but I hope there will be lots of variety too! I hope you’re looking forward to them as much as I am!

  1. Oh my goodness, you were speaking my language with this post! First of all, I LOVE your beautiful flower & background. I adore everything about your design! It must have felt fabulous when you finally got into your own creative zone & let loose. I’m so happy for you!
I don’t have raw talent and card making hasn’t come easy but I was very determined in the beginning. I studied the basics & mainly followed PTI because of the amazing talent. But then the company went thru a very big change and I felt lost. There were times I just sat in my craft room and rearranged or looked thru my “stuff”! Change can be scary but in hindsight I’m grateful it happened, because that’s when my real crafting journey began- all on my own. It’s been the happiest time for me, finding my own vision and creativity. Instead of following just one company, I choose products I’m excited about and follow my favorite artists across the crafty spectrum.😊 Many times I’ve wondered how designers keep up with all their commitments and is it still fulfilling.

More recently I’ve been drawn towards stand alone dies & I love it! It’s added another FUN element to my crafting. I purchased Concord & 9th’s ink cube collection to give them a try and like you said, I actually get giddy when I craft now! It’s wonderful.
So when I read your post and saw your gorgeous card, I REALLY related. I know our stories are different but I just had to share mine. (Sorry it’s so long) I’m so excited for you, that you’ve been given this opportunity. And I wish you the best times of HAPPY crafting! 💖🌸

    1. Thanks for sharing your journey, Stephanie! I think we share the same beginnings! I started off with SU but quickly discovered there are so many big brands to play with so I self taught through YouTube. I’m so glad you’re playing!! I have a huge destash collection if you’re interested in buying lightly used product for more than half off! I have a destash page and you can email me for links to see the product before you buy if you prefer it not to be a mystery. Happy crafting to you too!
