Hi, Friends!
I shared a card several weeks ago where I used a technique I learned from Yana Smakula – coloring over colored cardstock with a black Copic marker to darken backgrounds. The Spring Flowers background stamp is perfect for this technique so I thought I would do it again!

To start, I embossed the image over Cotton Candy cardstock with gold embossing powder. Then I used a black Copic marker (110) and colored all the negative space. You can certainly save this for the end too if you prefer.

After coloring the negative space with black, I colored my berries, flowers, then leaves.
Copic colors used:
Flowers: RV11, R85, R56, R89
Berries: RV63, RV66, RV69
Leaves: YG06, YG09, YG17

I wanted to give my card more pizzazz so I used my white gelly roll pen to add little white dots and lines all over. My sentiment is from the Thinking of You Sentiment Strips.
I really hope you enjoyed this card. Reminds me a bit of Christmas – which am totally not ready for! Thanks for stopping by today!

That’s really pretty, Caly. The colors really pop with the contrast between the black background and the pinks and greens.
I noticed you embossed before coloring with copics. I thought those two didn’t go well together.
All the best, Mia

It’s ok as long as you don’t scrub over the embossing over and over, I think. But truthfully, I’ve never noticed an issue

This is gorgeous! The pinks just pop against the black background, and the white dots are the finishing touch!
