Stamptember is such an exciting time for Simon Says Stamp and it’s HERE! Tonight, I want to share a card made using one of my favorites from this releas ! The Sunflower Background stamp is just so gorgeous!

I have to be honest – this one overwhelmed me. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to watercolor or Copic color this – and it required a lot of coloring! When there’s a lot of detail, you just have to dive in and tackle it one area at a time. For my card today, I decided on Copic markers and did no-line coloring for the first time in a LONG time – probably 2 years or more!

I started with the petals – again, one section at a time so it didn’t seem to daunting, then the brown centers, then the leaves. It actually went a lot faster than I thought it would! The centers are stippled with my Copic markers for the gradual color and to add texture.

Copics: 
Greens:  YG06, YG09, G28
Oranges/Yellows:  Y11, Y15, Y38
Browns:  E34, E35, E37, E39, E47, E49

I trimmed my panel when I was done coloring to clean up the edges, then added white gel dots around the outer edges and inner portion of the flower centers. To add some interest, I also added a black frame from the A2 Thin Frames die. Finally, I embossed a simple sentiment from the new Clean Line Gratitude sentiment stamp set.
