Simon Says Stamp – Concord & 9th STAMPtember® 2020 Exclusive Collaboration

Hey Friends!

I’ve been trying to change the medium and method up since Stamptember started with each collaborative set. Tonight, it’s colored pencil on kraft cardstock! The Concord & 9th ‘Tis the Season set is perfect for this! Lots of detail and fun elements to make it pop over kraft.

I started by stamping the image over kraft cardstock with a light brown hybrid ink. Then I started with one image at a time and started with the darkest shades, added a medium and a light going from the outer edges to the center, almost leaving the centers of each petal without color. The white colored pencil is then used as a blender and highlighter to blend all three colors together. If you want more depth, go back and add strokes with the darker pencils.

I started with the poinsettia, then worked on the pine, then the rest of the foliage, working on one type of flower/foliage at a time. It requires lots of patience, but I promise the effort is worth it. It’s also important to take your time with each as if you were just starting out – I know the repetitiveness can cause anyone to rush through it but that will cause your coloring to change.

After coloring, distressed the edges to make sure I didn’t smear my sentiment. I stamped my sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink and it takes a bit to dry. To finish, I embellished my card with clear sequins after adhering my card to a cardbase using foam adhesive.
