Simon Says Stamp has another Limited Edition card kit this month full of wonderful Tim Holtz products along with a new stamp and stencil from Simon Says Stamp! I played with the alcohol inks and made two cards and did some fun foiling.

I used the alcohol inks provided in the kit – a set of three colors in Shell Pink, Willow, and Cloudy Blue. For my first card, I put the ink colors directly to a felt pad that was on an Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool that I just glided across the yupo paper to create the soft colored stripes.

On my second card, I did a more organic technique using droplets of alcohol ink and spread it with an Alcohol Ink Air Blower. There is more ink-pooling with this technique and before it fully dried, I placed a piece of gold foil over it to get some foil to stick to the wet alcohol ink. I wish foil photographed better because it’s really pretty in real life! Both cards have images from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Mothers stamp set that I embossed over vellum. I wanted the images to be soft and not battle with the backgrounds for attention. The sentiments are also embossed over Cotton Candy Cardstock, which is provided in the kit.

An extra fun thing I did using this kit is the foiled Burlap mini clutch in the background. I added foil to it using the Fading Floral Stencil. To do that, I first added a layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the stencil onto the burlap clutch. I let it dry and then did another layer to make sure there was more adhesive for the foil to cling to. When dry (it took about an hour and a half), I used a piece of parchment paper as a barrier and ironed on the gold foil. It’s not perfect because the burlap canvas is heavily textured, but I’m happy with how it turned out! I took the handle it came with off and added a Tim Holtz Ideology Heart Adornment as a charm instead.
