Hello Friends!
I have a card made using the Poppies Background stamp today. It’s such a beautiful red-rubber stamp with large blooms – great for coloring! When I go to use a stamp like this, I always think of Yana Smakula. I want to color the minimal background that it has black.
I knew this was going to require lots of patience as the entire panel will be covered in Copic markers. To prepare my card panel, I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and embossed the panel with clear embossing powder. I thought the raised edges and lines help me color more cleanly. I’m quite a perfectionist and I hate when I color outside the lines!
I colored the poppies first, then the centers, then the stems and leaves. Finally, I filled in the background with black. I worked on one petal at a time, blending slowly to make sure there were no harsh lines.
Black: 110
Reds: R32, R35, R37, R39
Greens: G14, G03, G09
Yellows: YG03, YG95
I splattered the panel with fine splatters of white paint, which dried right away, before adding a sentiment strip from the Thinking of You Sentiment Strips. I stacked the sentiment strip with four more layers of cardstock to raise it up. Jennifer McGuire is a genius with tips like that!

Girl, this is GOR.GE.OUS! Wow! Poppies will forever remind me of The Wizard of Oz! I’m dating myself here, but they used to show The Wizard of Oz every year on tv. It was such a huge event. I watched every year. 😀 Has your little girl ever seen the movie? Movie night for you girls!

Now I want to see it! 😀😀 The way that the wicked witch says,”Poppies,” when they’re in the poppy field is why poppies remind me of the movie. I always remember lines from movies and shows. haha haha I think she will love it especially sharing that memory with you. 💜
