Colorado Craft Company is celebrating their latest release of their Big & Bold and Whimsy World lines! There are lots of florals, birdcages and birds! Be sure to check out the full release. Today, I’m using the Big & Bold Hibiscus Hummingbird. I just couldn’t help it with the hummingbird – they are my favorites!

Hibiscus are NOT easy to color for me – the contrast in the petals is so hard to achieve for me. So I watercolored as best I could – and added details with colored pencils. Believe it or not, the hummingbird was so much easier for me to watercolor!

Daniel Smith Watercolor:
Hibiscus:  Quin Rose
Lilly:  Aussie Red Gold, Quin Rose
Stem/Leaves:  Sap Green
Hummingbird:  Phathalo Blue RS, Ultramarine Turquoise, Quin Purple, Piemontite Genuine, Quin Burnt Scarlet

Polychromos: Magenta 133, Fuchsia 123, Light Cadmium Red 117, Pine Green 267, Helioblue-Reddish 267, Mauve 249

These images are big! My card is a 5″ x 7″ card. After die-cutting using both the Hibiscus flower and Hummingbird, I worked on my background and sentiment. The background is a white panel that is ink-blended with Bundled Sage and Peacock Feathers. I added some texture by spraying/splattering it with water. I trimmed it down to mat my cardbase and attached my images with foam tape for dimension.

To finish, I embossed my sentiment in white over black cardstock and die-cut it. I seriously LOVE it when there is a die for the sentiment! I hope you like it!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
