Happy Cyber Monday and HAPPY TIM HOLTZ SURPRISE! Today’s special surprise is a release of the Tim Holtz DieCember set – Dash Away All!

I wanted to color a little village for Santa’s sleigh and reindeer to fly over, so I embossed the Little Village Embossing Folder. Before running it through the die-cutting machine, I swiped Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide across the raised parts of the embossing folder – which applies color to the sky and river. I think it gives such an organic look to the river! Next, I ink-blended the sky with Prize Ribbon and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks to intensify the night sky.

I then colored the village with Copic markers, taking my time to color all the trees and houses.

Reds:  R32, R35, R39
Yellows:  Y000, YG00, Y02
Green:  G28
Teals:  BG53, BG57
Blues:  B02, B06
Grays:  C1, C5, C6
Browns:  E31, E34

When done, I used white pigment ink and using a finger dauber, I rubbed some white ink on the trees, then tried to make an aurora sky using a technique I learned from Online Card Classes. Using a finger dauber, I swiped white pigment ink upward and created a pattern and added some colored Perfect Pearls to give it shimmer and color. I used the following Perfect Pearl colors: Violet, Green, Gumball, Turquoise.

To give my village more interest, I used Unicorn Dust and added glistening snow to the trees, rooftops and snow by applying it over Glossy Accents. Then, I added the magical element – the Tim Holtz Dash Away All dies! I colored the moon with some yellow and light gray Copics (C1, Y00, YG0), then added Santa’s sleigh and reindeer after cutting it out of black cardstock.

I finished my card by splattering my card with white paint to emulate snow and then attached a sentiment strip from the Reverse Love Peace Joy Sentiment Strips. There’s nothing more magical than Santa’s sleigh moving across the sky on Christmas Eve, right? These dies are such a classic and I hope you feel it on my project today!
