Hey, Friends!

I tried something new for today’s card and I’m excited to share it. I’ve used the Intricate Floral Background Hot Foil Plate before and ink-blended it to give it color. You can view that card HERE. Today’s card is a colorful take on a foiled background.

You’re going to think I’m crazy, but actually colored the negative space with a black Copic marker. I’ve done this before…but never with such an intricate design. It takes patience! Foil resists the Copic pigment, so I colored carefully, trying not to go over the lines. Don’t look too close! It’s not perfect!

Once I finished coloring in the background of the foiled Intricate Floral Background Hot Foil Plate panel, I was left with white space on all the flowers and foliage. I used round detail blending brushes and Pawsitively Saturated Inks (linked below) to add color, careful not to overlap the colors.

I finished with a sentiment die-cut from purple glitter cardstock using the Here for You dies, designed by Cathy Zielske. I layered two additional layers under the glitter layer for dimension and used vellum to die-cut the halo for the sentiment – I didn’t want to hide the coloring too much, I worked hard on it!
