Hello!
Since the coloring challenge is going on for the entire month of June, I thought I would post once a week with a recap of the previous week. I posted last Friday when I made my first card to jumpstart the coloring challenge. If you missed those Birthday Chicks, you can see the post HERE.
Let’s dive right in since there’s a lot to cover!
Day 2: Concord & 9th – Hello Lovely
This is and oldie but a goodie! I love this stamp set. It comes with a large outline stamp and watercolor stamps that you can use to give the image a watercolor look with little effort. I’ve never used those stamps because I enjoy watercoloring so that’s what I did for this night’s coloring. I stamped the image use MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I colored the image using Tombow Dual Brush Pens, applying the color in areas that I wanted the most saturation and pulled the color out using a damp Silver Velvet brush.
Tombow colors used: N65 (gray), 815 (red), 676 (dk purple), 454 (light blue), 533 (lavender), 346 (dk teal), 177 (dk green), 098 (olive), 245 (green), 055 (yellow) ,723 (pink). Please note: These are not the actual names of the colors, I just named them to make them easier to identify using the photo above (listed in order from top to bottom consecutively).
I embossed the sentiment (from the Dahlia Turnabout stamp set) using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder.
Day 3: Neat & Tangled – Courage
I still had my Tombows out from the day before, so I got lazy and used them again for my second night. These gingko leaves from the Neat & Tangled Courage set are beautiful.
I laid down the lighted color, then added the dark lines, then added the medium color. I layered each color and let it dry before applying the second and third layers. I was really happy with the result!
The sentiments are from the same stamp set. I embossed the word courage in white on black paper and fussy cut around it so I could stamp the rest of the sentiment around it and propped it up on foam tape.
Day 4: Hello Bluebird – Farmyard Little Bits
I colored a bunch of little farm cows and pigs for a card I’m sharing later this week. Here’s a picture of my coloring:
I usually don’t get the pink on the piggies right – but I think I’ve found the perfect combination (for me). E000 and E01. You can sort of see the marker colors in the image above.
Day 5: Hello Bluebird – Woodland Littles
I colored these woodland critters with fall in mind because of all the stamps that are in this set – but I think it can be made into a spring card as well. I’ve never colored leaves anything but shades of green so this was different for me. I’ll make this a scene and turn it into a card for Hello Bluebird sometime next week.
Colors used: YR30, YR24, YR27 (fox), YR94, YR09, R29 (orange and red leaves), G14, G05 (green leaves), E41, E50, E53, E31, E55, E13, E27 (pumpkin, tree stump, acorn, hedgehog), W1, W3 (squirrel), N0, N1, 0 (owl), R20 (blush)
A little detail with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen always makes the image pop!
Day 6: Hello Bluebird – Springtime
I colored these images using Copics. I’ll use these to make a card for Hello Bluebird later this month 🙂
Copic colors used: N0, N3 (rock), E000, E41 (bunny), Y02, Y08 (sun, center of flower), YG06, G03 (frogs), V000, V01 (flowers and butterflies).
Day 7: Hello Bluebird – Elephant Friends
I had to color for another upcoming assignment so here’s some more adorable images!
Copics colors used: R20, R30, R00, R0000 (bunnies), V0000, V01 (mouse), T0, T2 (elephants), BG11, BG13 (balloon), Y00, Y08 (duck, butterfly), B00, B000, E31 (flag/banner).
I made it an entire week, friends!!! Thanks for joining for my 30 day coloring challenge recap for week 1! I stayed busy coloring things for assignments this month 🙂
XOXO,
Well, sweet Caly, you have been busy! So glad you are coloring, and I am coloring but just haven’t finished a card — yet! LOL! I love your sweet critters, and I always love your cards! The first one is extra special since you “enabled” me to get that one! Hugs, sweet friend! xoxo
